CARTERVILLE – The Lady Lions’ basketball team continued its hot streak Saturday with a 64-50 non-conference win against Waterloo. 

The Lions, now 23-4, used a strong third quarter, outscoring the Bulldogs 22-8 to break open a 31-31 halftime tie. Senior Kristin Edmonds scored 11 of her game-high 21 points in the third quarter as Carterville pulled away.

The Lions were led with balanced scoring with Sophomore Amayah Doyle scoring 17 points, Senior Alecia Doyle with 14 points, Senior Kasha Ward with eight points and Senior Macey Lentz with four points. Carterville had seven three-pointers and were 13 of 17 from the free throw line.

The win is the Lions’ 11th straight win on the year, including three wins this week. Waterloo is now 22-5.

Carterville, which is ranked No. 5 in Class 2A in the state on MaxPreps, heads to Pinckneyville Thursday, Feb. 3rd.
