CARTERVILLE-  The Carterville Girls and Boys Golf teams teed off last night at Crab Orchard Golf Course. The girls shot a 266, but they were bested by Harrisburg who shot a 191. The boys shot a 167, beating Harrisburg who shot a 193.

Cartervilles top performer Olivia Hunter shot a team leading 54 through 9 holes.

“I feel like we are getting a little better, which is good, but we still have a lot of work to do, ” said Hunter when asked about how she feels the team can continue to improve.

She and her teammates will tee of at West Frankfort on September 7th, at 4 p.m.

Cartervilles top performer Spencer Brown shot an impressive 38, followed by Jackson Burke who shot a 39.

“Its going to be a good season, and we should hopefully make it to sectionals,” said  Colin Stewart when asked about his team’s playoff aspirations.

The boys will tee off against Carbondale, September 3rd, at 4 p.m.
