CARTERVILLE – The Lions defeated the Trico Pioneers last night, 11-1 in the fifth inning and improving their overall record to 8-6 and 1-3 in the conference.

Every run-rule is dominated by the offense, but Wednesday’s performance was highlighted by a key newcomer to the Lion varsity squad.

Sophomore Parker Poole led the Lions on the bump with an impressive pitching performance. Last night was Poole’s first start on the mound for the season, and he hurled all five innings.

Poole finished the game with no walks, eight strikeouts, and only allowed one run.

¨I felt relaxed and it was a nice sunny day. I was going into the game with full confidence and my off speed was feeling great. I got my splitter dialed-in and was ready to bring it,¨ said Poole.

The Lions continue their season with a conference match up against the DuQuoin Indians tonight at home.
