Baseball is more liked than football, it’s just a batter game! This year the CHS baseball team is already kicking the season off with some home run swings for the wins. There is a varsity and a junior varsity team. Some of the varsity positions are, Cole Sizemore (catcher), Peter Baker (center field), Tyler Bittle (shortstop), and Julian Harshbarger (pitcher). This team is enthusiastic and eager to get out on the field and play!

With this rainy weather we had experienced, the boys had only been able to play a few games. The first game was a win of 10-2,! On the 13th of April, the boys played Benton at home. according to Bryon Hetzler on the Carterville Athletic’s page “Junior, Julian Harshbarger was able to throw more than five innings of one hit baseball” (Hetzler). The game on April third was against Anna-Jonesboro and was played at the Harrisburg fields. Junior, Peter Baker, was able to give us an insight into what the game was like, “Although the season has come slowly, we are already able to bring in two wins and are non-stop practicing. This years team shows hard work and dedication ahead of them.” With two winning games, there are more to come. The schedule is on the Carterville sport page and will give you any new updates of the games, rosters, and schedules for upcoming baseball.

Be sure to “hit up” the next baseball game scheduled for May 7th versus Vienna High School and cheer on your team! There is always amazing concessions, friends, and a fun time at the home games. Don’t strike out, show your Carterville baseball team your Carterville crazy side when cheering them on!
