When the Lady Lions took a devastating and season-ending loss to the Pickneyville Panthers in round three of our regional, the server that started the team off at the beginning of set one was sophomore Haley Dueker. The first serve was solid, and the team off to an exceptional start.  Haley felt good about the game; she said, “I was going to give it my all because I was the one to start us off, so I had to do good, missing my serve was not an option.”

Next, Carterville High School’s first kill of the game was by junior Emma Rogers. She said, “I wanted to get my team’s energy up, and with the kill, we started off on a bit of a run.”

There were so many highlights and good plays, but as far as good plays go, there are always bad plays that will follow throughout, and with that, the Lady Lions 2024 season has ended.

In addition to ending off the season, senior Sydne Congiardo was the team’s last server. She said regarding her final thoughts about the game, “I knew that I had to get the ball over the net but also try to be competitive.”

The Lady Lions ended in two difficult sets. The score in the first set was 17-25, with the Panthers taking the lead, and the score in set 2 was 19-25, with the Lady Lions taking a devastating loss.

The team ends the season with a 18-19 record, while placing fourth in conference play.
