The girls’ soccer season has begun. This is the last season for five of the girls on the team, and they are determined to make it a great one. Their first game was in Sikeston, Missouri on March 24, 2026.

After winning their first game with the score of 2-0, the girls were left excited for what the rest of the season would hold.

One of the biggest factors that led to the girls’ success was their good communication and teamwork on the field. Although they had a bit of a rocky start, towards the second half they started to get the hang of it. In the second half of the first game, the girls began to get the hang of moving the ball quickly, keeping possession, and connecting with one another to make good passes. The defense stayed organized and focused, which made it difficult for the other team to get close enough to the goal to score.

For a few of these girls, it was their first high school game, and they were working hard on the field. “Although the game was really challenging, it gave me a perspective on what high school games look like,” freshman Hadlea Watson said.

The midfielders played a very important role by connecting passes and creating scoring opportunities. Their ability to support each other showed how much time and effort they put into winning the game. The first goal of the game was tricky for the girls to get; the opposing team’s defense was really good, along with their goalkeeper. When they did get the goal, it gave the girls all the motivation they needed to win the game.

Even when the game became really challenging and the girls just wanted to stop, they continued to push through it and managed to score another goal. “I was continuously thinking about all the ways we could have great communication and what ways we could work great together when making passes. Throughout the entire game, everyone stayed positive and encouraged one another on the field. We trusted each other to do our jobs, listened to our teammates, and stayed focused on scoring. That teamwork really helped us stay organized and helped us win,” said freshman Mackenzie Reames.
