Studying can be tedious, but it is often a part of weekly life in school. It leads one to wonder what the best ways to do it are, how long they should study for, and how other people study. Most people recommend around 30 minutes to an hour the week or night before a test, although depending on difficulty it’s recommended to study longer. However, junior Isabella Bailey says what works best for her is, “I have a really weird memory, so if I read over something really quick before a test, I can remember things easier,” Bailey said.
For the most part, people tend to study in the same way, such as listening to music or having some kind of background noise to help focus; although, some students need complete silence to get anything done. Some people find other things to be more helpful, “I eat hot foods sometimes and that helps me a lot when I study,” sophomore Kaelei Downs said.
Sometimes doing small, different things is what works best for people. Studying is something every student has or will do at one time or another, and in order to get the most out of doing so they should not be afraid to try something out of the ordinary. After all, it might just be something that makes you pass a test.
The people that have been studying the longest are the upperclassmen, so they have the best tips and tricks to help others that may not have much knowledge on the subject of studying. One thing an upper classman recommends for people that don’t study often is “studying for at least 30 minutes, but it really depends on what you’re studying and how much stuff you need to study for, ” sophomore Abby Hovenga said.
