Phillips’ No-Hitter Propels Lions Over A-J

CARTERVILLE – The Carterville Lions baseball team beat Anna-Jonesboro 4-0 Thursday night on the back of Brady Phillips’ no-hit performance.

With the Lions in the field to start the game, Anna-Jonesboro did not stand a chance from the start. Phillips struck out AJ’s first batter, and cruised from there.

Starting the 2nd inning, the Lions were ahead 1-0. Carterville continued to diminish any thoughts Anna-Jonesboro had of winning the game. By the top of the 6th, few stragglers were left in the visiting crowd, as it was clear there was no chance for Anna-Jonesboro to recover with the Lions leading 4-0.

As the last out was caught, Carterville’s team ran from the dugout to celebrate on the field and Phillips was congratulated for throwing a No-Hitter.
