CARTERVILLE- The Lions volleyball team battled with the DuQuoin Indians for three sets and ultimately took the loss 18-25, 29-27, 23-25.
The first set was quick with the Indians ending the Lion’s every attempt to make a comeback.
The second was a true back-and-forth battle between the two teams. When the score reached 20-20, the ball would turn over every play, causing the game to go into extra points. The Lions eventually took the set and forced the match into the third.
The third continued in a similar fashion with each team not being able to secure a comfortable lead. Errors on both sides led to adversity, but DuQuoin was able to overcome and take the win.
Middle hitter, Emma Rogers, remained positive even through a loss, “I play for my teammates and my teammates play for me. We all have things to focus on this next practice and there is no doubt in my mind that we will bounce back immediately.”
