CARTERVILLE – Lion Senior Ally Lange led the Carterville volleyball team to a win on opening night against Sesser-Valier, 2-0 (25-15, 25-13).

What started off as a close set tied 3-3, the Lions quickly pulled away thanks to a serve run from senior Reese Brunken, drawing the score up to 6-3.

After putting themselves ahead, Carterville gained its distance from the Red Devils and secured a first set win, 25-15.

“I think the team did really well together,” said Lange, commenting on the overall performance of the new Lion crew.

Set two featured a six-point serve run from junior Regan Eigenrauch, which played a large part in the Lions wrapping up set two, 25-13.

“I think we need to fix a few minor things, and then we’ll be ready to go for the rest of the season,” said Lange, who finished the night with eight kills and two blocks.

The Lions set their sights on the Terriers this Thursday, August 25, at home with varsity playing at 7:00 p.m.
