We would like to welcome all of our readers back to CHS chats after a long break. Volume 7 resumes with Mr. Samuel, the new PE/Health instructor and assistant football coach. When the beginning of the 2021-2022 school year started, Mr. Samuel set out on his first year of teaching at Carterville High School. His experience so far, couldn’t be any better.

Mr. Samuel grew up and went to school in Carterville, Illinois. “I enjoyed my time as a student here at CHS. The teachers were all extremely helpful and helped prepare me for college courses. I was fortunate to have been able to be part of some successful sports teams here as well. CHS gave memories and friendships that will last a lifetime” Samuel says.

After high school, Mr. Samuel attended McKendree University in Lebanon, Illinois after graduating from high school. He obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and a Master’s degree in education. He claims that his first day of teaching was enjoyable by saying, “It was a lot of fun getting to know everyone and introducing myself.”

Samuel also said, “I enjoy all of the classes I teach. This is what makes my job so enjoyable: I get to teach classes that I am interested in. In addition, the students in each of my classes are courteous and contribute to making teaching enjoyable” when discussing his classes this year.

If Mr. Samuel wasn’t a health teacher, he says he would be a collegiate strength and conditioning coach. Additionally, his advice to students, “Be respectful and kind to other people. You never know what kind of day that they may be having or if they have issues going on outside of school,” because his goal as a teacher at CHS is to make an everlasting positive impact on the lives of his students.
