Lady Lions Beat Down Red Birds

CARTERVILLE -The Carterville Lions Girls Basketball team opened up the season at home last night with a big win 70-29 against the West Frankfort Red Birds.

The game started off with a big run by the Lions. They led 18-8 after the first quarter, and looked to keep up the momentum going into the second quarter. The Lions ended the first half with a lead of 42-13, with the help of Alecia Doyle (16pts) and Kasha Ward (9 pts).

The Red Birds tried to fight back in the third, but the game ultimately ended out in a blowout with a final score of 70-29.

Alecia Doyle, Kasha Ward, and Amayah Doyle ended up as the Lady Lions top scorers of the night with 22, 13, and 12 points, respectively.

Carterville heads up to Salem Thursday, November 18th for the Salem Thanksgiving Tournament where they’ll face Highland at 6:00 p.m.
