Whisk Yourself Away With FCCLA

Myah Richards, Head Editor

Last month, Carterville High School had five students from FCCLA participate in their area competition and qualify for state. On January 25th, students competed in the cookie cake decorating category at Carbondale High School. Students had to decorate their cookie to match this year’s theme which was baby shower. Guidelines of decoration and sanitation must be followed during the procedure. The idea is to create a centerpiece for a party using your cookie. When speaking to Junior Izzy Cordero, who competed, she claims her favorite part was “being there with my friends and having a good time. It was my second year competing and I am really looking forward to this year’s state competition!”. Izzy, along with seniors Taylor Jones, Kelli Halliday, and Brittney Forbes completed with a silver medal and Myah Richards with a gold medal for their success in the competition. The State Conference will be held in Springfield on April 12th through the 14th. Make sure to congratulate these students on their accomplishments and cheer them on as they go to state!
