Junior Varsity Scholastic Bowl Season Recap

The junior varsity scholastic bowl team at the high school has seen a great season this year. At this point, they have not even lost a match. Their first match was November 6, 2025. Since then they have had fourteen other matches.

With their score being 10-0 at their match on November 18, 2025, there were four events in this one match. This team won every event at the match. This season a very memorable one for the members on the scholar bowl team.

Freshman Ayden Fuchs said “Scholar Bowl has been an amazing experience. This club, although usually classified as nerdy, is really fun. It gets you out of school, and tests your knowledge on things that are actually interesting. It makes you think more than memorize like school does. Scholar bowl has also helped me meet so many new people, and has given me so many chances to develop and explore all kinds of new topics. Scholar Bowl might seem like something stupid or irrelevant, but I really do find it to be enjoyable.”

The team practices a lot in order to win. In order to be involved in this club, it requires being a quick thinker and remembering knowledgeable things. Another member of the team agrees that this season has been very rewarding, freshman Mackenzie Reames said, “Scholar bowl has been a very fun and different way to express the knowledge of Carterville High School. It has allowed me to meet some new people and to get to know them better. Being on the team pushes you to learn things you wouldn’t normally have to study in school. It can be challenging, but I think that’s what makes it really fun. The team this year has been very welcoming and supportive. I had a great time with them. They are very encouraging and they push us to be better. Since this season has been so amazing, I would love to be on it every year for the rest of my high school career.”

Since this season has been so amazing and as members of the team have said, rewarding, it has boosted the confidence of the members on the team. This continues to leave them all motivated to continue to win the rest of the season.
