Carterville High School spring sports has had very successful season in having many wins from each sport. The sports included that Carterville provides are, boys and girls track and field, softball, baseball, and girls soccer. One sport that has shown a great deal of hard work and dedication is baseball.

This year they added a new addition to the team, Carterville English teacher Reid Cure. Cure has coached Junior High Baseball the last few fall seasons but was able to take a new position on for being the head coach for the high school team. With Cure coaching Junior High in the past, he was able to coach some of the same boys he did when they where in Junior High thus giving him the chance to further coach and help these same boys improve.

Four year varsity player Parker Poole has been one of them whom has put there hard work and sweat into playing this sport. Parker has been playing since he was little and has been playing for Carterville sports since junior high so for the past 7 years. “My ultimate goal this year is to stay healthy while winning games with my teammates. It’s been a fun season and hopefully we go out on a good note” senior Parker Poole said.

Parker is getting the chance to continue his baseball career at John A. Logan where he is getting the chance to study criminal justice. Parker has helped lead his team through pitching and help them take the win through multiple games. “I’ve seen Parker improve as a cerebral pitcher who controls the game. When he takes the bump, we know that Parker is going to give us a chance to win against any team we face” head baseball coach Reid Cure said.

He has been able to maintain good grades all while playing sports and being involved with other various school activities.
