Lady Lions Block Out the Bruins

CARTERVILLE– The Carterville Lady Lions won 9-0 against the St. Bede Academy Lady Bruins last Wednesday (4/16), during the game Junior Cadence Phillips threw her 500th career strikeout.

Phillips started the game four strikeouts away from her new record, which she accomplished in the top of the 2nd inning. 

In the top of the 3rd, Junior Taryn Ford hit a double, bringing home fellow Junior Sofia Badiu and one other for a score of 2-0.

During the 4th inning, the bases were loaded as Junior Savannah Gibbs stepped up to bat. She hit a triple, bringing three of her teammates home and putting herself up for another run, leaving the score a striking 7-0.

Phillips continued to strike out the Lady Bruins, one after another, only letting up a few times,but never enough for them to get passed 2nd base.
