Lions Face Herrin: All Pride On the Line

CARTERVILLE – On April 7, the Lions softball team defeated the Herrin Tigers 13-2 in a rival matchup. The nerves were high, as both teams represented their respective towns, but the Lions’ teamwork and determination prevailed, highlighting a legacy game.

Starting the game strong, Colbie Bennett led off with a home run for the Lions, continuing an early momentum that set the game’s pace. Following Bennett, Savannah Gibbs kept the Lions dangerous, putting herself on base with Kendall McCalla and Laniey Workman securing hits to put the Lions up 4-0.

Continued hits by Mason Kries, Sophia Badiu, and Audrina Sloan secured the Lions’ momentum, keeping players on base consistently and making plays in the field. After the final innings, the Lions finished off the game with their 13-2 victory, representing an exceptional performance.

The Lions will face off next at Anna-Jonesboro on April 9, walking into the game as a dangerous team. To keep up with more Carterville Athletics, follow lions_ath_chs on Instagram.
