Lions Defeat the Indians: A Match of Glory

On Tuesday, April 1, Lions softball faced the Johnston City Indians. Coming off of strong seasons, both teams had everything to prove, but the Lions utilized the extent of teamwork and skill to secure a 10-0 victory.

Caidence Phillips highlighted the power of the Lions within the circle, allowing one hit and no runs over her start. However, the hitting set the Lions in extreme momentum. The Lions opened the scoring in the bottom of the second after several singles, but the outstanding hit from Emilyn Ford allowed the first two runs and set Carterville in front.

The Lions continued their roll into the third inning, with a double by Audrina Sloan extending the lead to 5-0. With no sense of slowing down, the Lions continued their streak and demonstrated exceptional power. Colbie Bennet led Carterville with 3 runs batted in, guiding her teammates and setting the pace. The runs continued as Audrina Sloan and Kendall Mcalla closed the game, securing the 10-0 victory.

Lions softball has the characteristics and essence of glory, upholding the success that comes from determination. The Lions will play the Vienna Eagles next on April 3rd. For more information keep up with the Carterville Sphinx and follow lions_ath_chs on instagram.
