CARTERVILLE-The Lady Lions scored seven goals to win a one sided game vs the Anna-Jonesboro Wildcats, 7-0. The Wildcats would be denied every opportunity they had to score thanks to Lion goalie Chloe Mesecher and the rest of the Lions defensive players.
Sisters Alea and Alissa Ruiz would get the offense going, scoring four combined goals in the first 18 minutes of the first half. Those goals would be followed by another goal from sophomore Lyla Seamen after a flashy move to make the opposing goalie to dive and leave a wide open net for her to score giving them a 5-0 lead heading into the half.
Halftime would not slow the Lions down as Alea Ruiz scored another goal boosting the lead to 6-0 and earning a hat trick which is earned by scoring 3 or more goals in soccer or hockey. Freshman Riane Castillo would score her first varsity goal in the late second half bumping the score up to 7-0 and would be the last goal of the game.
