The Downtown Fizz is a new drink shop located in Marion, Illinois. While specializing in drinks, they serve soda, bubble tea, and other specialty drinks.
The owner Bailey Lowe opened the first Downtown Fizz “location” in 2023. But before she upgraded to her storefront, she had a pop-up shop/truck that she would take to different locations across Southern Illinois to share her passion.
Bailey began her career as a teacher until she realized that she, “didn’t have a passion for that. So, I chose something else that I could do on the weekends.”
She began her business by packing boxes filled with the different materials needed to make her drinks, and some folding tables into the back of her car and going to different events. She continued with this until she was scrolling on Facebook Marketplace and found a cute little camper that she “flipped” and began selling her refreshments.
Carterville High School junior, Landon Mayhew, visited the Downtown Fizz on its opening day. He went on to say, “It was pretty good and it’s cool that there is something like that close by.”
Their many different drink options and flavors make the shop a cool and unique experience. Another student from Carterville High School, freshman Peyton Applehans also tried out the new drinks. “The drink I got was like a blue raspberry lemonade type drink. It was really good. I like the vibes of the store as well.”
So far the new soda shop has been open for a little over a month and has received nothing but great reviews on both their service and the drinks themselves.
Sophomore Cara Grob said “I went to the Downtown Fizz like a week after it opened. It was really good and really unique.” The variety of different drink “bases,” and “add ins,” that are provided allow for everyone to design a drink specifically catered to them and their likings.
Bailey Lowe has created a bright and bubbly environment in which everyone can feel welcome to come in and enjoy. Overall, the Downtown Fizz has become a very popular place for everyone to go and enjoy and create drinks they love. It is a new and unique shop that everyone can enjoy, creating a perfect edition to summer festivities.
