With the holidays approaching, our first encounter on the holiday season falls with Thanksgiving Day. Many individuals have different views on holidays, this includes Thanksgiving Day, which is one of our first approaches on the first of the cold weather holidays, asking students their own way they celebrate this holiday.
Due to everyone having their different ways of celebrating, Carterville junior Katie Yocum said, “Every year me and my family celebrate; I would describe my perfect Thanksgiving Day by eating good food and spending time with my family.”
Junior Cheyenne Cockrum, who she likes to spend her day with, said, “My favorite dish during Thanksgiving is Kalki’s, the Polish cookies that my family makes, and I like spending my thanksgiving day with my grandparents!”
Since the open window of cultures has opened, junior Salvador Tomas also said, “A perfect thanksgiving day to me is waking up in the morning making my family’s homemade pumpkin pie, than pack up the rest of the food my family made, and put all of the food in the car and head to my grandparents home where all the rest of my family will greet each other, say hello, and get into a circle and thank God for all he has given us, then eat and enjoy all the food and time that I get to spend with my family.”
This shows the many ways people come together to celebrate in their own cultural ways that bring families together.
