Throughout the halls of Carterville High School, a rumor has been going around that students and staff are brawling with one another about the right and wrong way when it comes to peeling a banana.
Now, the real question is, ‘How do you peel a banana?’ Many students/ staff have said the right way is to peel it from the “top,” but some students/staff are saying that the only right way to peel a banana is from the “bottom.” Now let’s get to the bottom of this debate.
After hearing about the scandal, a fast survey was conducted and sent out to a select few of the students and staff members. The following is information provided from the survey about how they peel a banana:
When looking through the survey, it seems that most students/staff peel a banana from the “top,” but there are a selective few who agreed that the right way is to peel it from the bottom. A few interviews were conducted as well to get more information on why some students peel it a certain way.
Senior Carolann Iaccino says “Many people have seen a video on TikTok, and it honestly does not matter how you peel a banana… it is a BANANA. Why should I go out of my way to flip the banana over, and peel from the bottom whenever I can peel it from the top? There really is not a wrong way to peel, just eat the banana” when asked how she would peel the banana.
According to English teacher Mrs. Neally, “The correct way to peel a banana is to not peel a banana. I don’t eat bananas.”
While another English teacher made a little sly comment, “Wait, you’re not supposed to eat the peel?” said Mr. Cure.
However, senior Abby Dorsey said,” It goes both ways to peel a banana. Honestly, if I’m feeling “frisky” I will peel it from the bottom, but if I am with people I will not do that and just peel it from the top.”
According to junior Ashton Riley, “ You have to peel the banana from the bottom, no matter what. It is so much easier to peel, along with the fact you are not getting a squishy banana from peeling it.”
Overall, many can see that people do things differently and can judge others for how they do it, however, it does not matter what you do, just continue to do yourself!
