Terriers Hand Lions First Loss

CARTERVILLE – The Carterville Lions volleyball team took on the #12 ranked in 3A Carbondale Terriers in a non-conference matchup that led to the Lions first loss of the season. They fell in 2 sets, the first set being 25-19, with the second being 25-20.

The Terriers came out of the gates hot, taking advantage of the unprepared Lions, getting out to 3-0 lead. The rest of the set was more of the same, the Lions were unable to claw back into set one, losing 25-19.

The first set served as a wake-up call for the Lions, as they came out for blood, getting ahead of the Terriers 10-6. Carbondale inched their way back, outscoring the Lions 19-10 the rest of the match, ending in a 25-20 second set score.

The volleyball team will play again on Saturday at the SIRR conference preview tournament. For more sports content and updates, follow @cartervilleath on Instagram and Twitter.
