Lady Lions Cage the Bulldogs

CARTERVILLE – The Carterville Lions faced the Harrisburg Bulldogs at home on Friday, April 5 and came out with a 10-0 win.

The Lions came out strong both offensively and defensively. Carterville started in the field and sophomore Caidence Phillips struck out two of the three batters for the inning. The third out was a pop up to sophomore Taryn Ford and the Lions quickly came in to hit. 

Lions came into the bottom of the first swinging. To begin, sophomore Colbie Bennett singled on a ground ball. The very next batter, senior Kennedy Rushing, singled on a line drive to center, moving Bennett to third. 

Senior Amayah Doyle also singled on a ground ball that brought home Bennett and Rushing, then advanced to second on the throw. The Lions lead 2-0 as senior Maddie Rosenbery came to the plate. Rosenbery homered on a fly ball to center field that brought in Doyle. The Lions ended the first inning leading 4-0.

Carterville continued to dominate in the second and third innings. In the third, Ford homered on a fly ball to left field, bringing the score to 9-0 Lions until the fourth.

The final run for the Lions, sophomore Savannah Gibbs, came in on a catcher error from Harrisburg. Finalizing the score for the game, 10-0 Lions.
