Lions Secure Last Second Win

CARTERVILLE- The Lions soccer team secured a 2-1 win against the Mt. Vernon Rams on Wednesday night. The Lions fought through adversity to secure the last-second win.

The Lions started the game down after the Rams scored in the 11th minute. The Lions remained vigilant and kept trying to find a gap in order to score, but they remained scoreless after the first half.

The Rams kept their defense up and stopped many shots from the Lions. Carterville finally caught a break when they received a penalty kick, making the score 1-1.

The kick opened the game up for the Lions. This allowed senior Keegan Webber to find a defensive gap and score another goal with only 4 minutes remaining.

The Lions kept their lead for the remaining few minutes, locking down the Senior Night win.
