Congiardo Serves Up Win for Lions

CARTERVILLE – The Lions Volleyball team took a win in two sets against the Harrisburg Bulldogs. The first set went into extra points, 28-26, while the second set finished 25-17.

The Lions struggled at the beginning of the first set, allowing the Bulldogs to stay close. The Lions pulled ahead in the very end to secure the win of the first set.

The second started out close until the score was tied up 10-10. It was at this point that freshman Mia Congiardo went on a 9-serve win streak, pulling the Lions ahead and giving a sizeable lead.

After the streak, the Lions never looked back finishing the set 25-17.

On how she kept her cool during her serve streak, Congiardo said she “wasn’t having [her] best game, [she] knew [she] had to get those serves over,” and “[they] needed a win after [their] past few losses.”

The volleyball team will play again at home Thursday when they face off against Massac County. For more sports content and updates, follow @CARTERVILLEATH on Instagram and Twitter.
