Skelcher and Bisching Push Lions to Week 4 Shut out

CARTERVILLE – The Lions football team shut out the Herrin Tigers Friday night with a dominant 49-0 win.

The Lions started off hot with junior Nick Bisching in the end zone for his first touchdown of the night on the opening drive. Junior Riley Crain and Senior Braden Wakey were close behind with touchdowns of their own on following drives.

To finish off the first quarter Bisching was back in the end zone with a minute and a half left on the clock, ending the quarter with a score of 28-0 Lions.

The second quarter was all Bisching. Within the first minute, he was in the end zone for his third touchdown, but he would not stop there. He would go on to receive two more touchdowns in the second to bring the score to a whopping 49-0 as the Lions headed into the locker room.

For the second half, the Tigers had such a point deficit the continuous clock was introduced. However, this would not help them as the score would remain the same for the remainder of the game.

Senior Brandon Skelcher and Bishing played a huge role in the Lions’ offense Friday night. Bisching accumulated five of the seven Lion touchdowns as well as 176 receiving yards. Skelcher threw all seven of the Lion’s touchdowns and had a total of 328 passing yards.

“All my friends supported me, it was super hype. Everyone was hyping me up, Everyone was talking about player of the week. It was just great, everyone offers a bunch of support and a bunch of hype,” said Bisching about how his team supported him through his success.

The Lions will play again on Friday, September 22 at home against St. Joseph Ogdon for their homecoming game! If you wish to receive updates about football or any other Lions sport follow us on Instagram and Twitter @Cartervilleath.
