CARTERVILLE – Lions soccer lost to the Massac Patriots 0-1 in their game Tuesday night.
The first half consisted of the Lions and Patriots battling to keep the ball on their opponent’s side. There were few shots at the opposing goal, however, the Patriots got one penalty kick saved by Keegan Weber. This led to a clean 0-0 slate for the second half.
An injury to varsity starter Keith Layson led the Lions to be down one man in the 1st. He persevered through and continued to play the rest of the game.
The second half continued to be a back-and-forth battle. This was until there were 28 minutes left on the clock, the Patriots scored the only goal of the game. The boys are back in action this week against Harrisburg as they hope to right the ship.
