Lions Softball Claw Their Way to Victory

Dani Scott, Sports Reporter

CARTERVILLE- The softball team fought hard for their win against Johnston City on Tuesday, March 28. The Lions proved their prowess against the Indians in their 4-3 win.

The game was extra tense due to Johnston City’s undefeated 9-0 record performance in Southern Warrior Classic tournament in Murfreesboro, winning all their games while the Lions went 2-2.

Both teams had multiple hits, but the Lions’ Lacie Carr really performed at the plate. She amassed 3 RBIs; all three runes were score by lead-off powerhouse, Amayah Doyle.

Freshman Caidence Phillips was in the circle for the entirety of the game, but just because she is young doesn’t mean she isn’t accustomed to pressure. In the 7th she was able to stop JC from scoring with two strikeouts and a ground-out in the field to ice the score at 4-3.

The Lions’ record improves to 6-2 as they move into a full week. Follow @CartervilleATH for sports updates, final scores, and exclusive extras.
