CARTERVILLE – The Lions notched their 20th win against the Pinckneyville Panthers in a regular season conference game Monday night with the score ending in 12-2.

The first inning started off very strong for the Lions with a home run by lead off batter, Amayah Doyle. The inning continued with a single by Kennedy Rushing, and two doubles by Hunter Noto and Maddie Rosenbery. The Lions ended up scoring four runs in this inning. The Panthers had no answer to pitcher Lacie Carr. To end the 1st inning, Carr threw two strikeouts heading into the 2nd inning.

The 2nd and 3rd innings were all Carterville. The 2nd inning had hits from Doyle and Carr which brought in two more runs for the Lions. Yet again, Carr started out the bottom of the 2nd with two more strikeouts. The 3rd inning started out with a single by Karson Caudill and Rice.

Then it was Rushing’s turn. She hit a triple on errors which gave the Lions two more runs.

The Panthers had a little bit of a run scoring 2 runs in the 3rd inning, stopping the Lions from 10-run ruling them.

However, that wasn’t enough for the Lions. The last inning started out with Rosenbery getting hit by a pitch and Macey Lentz drawing a walk. Rice brought in both runners with a triple on errors, making the score 12-2. The Lions brought in pitcher, Katie Keirn to end the game. The Lions held the Panthers to only 3 hitters with 3 outs right away to end the game. This win made the Lions 20-2 on the season and 7-0 in the conference.
