CARTERVILLE- The Lions softball team had a strong offensive and defensive game against Du Quoin taking a 9-2 win.

Lacie Carr was the starting pitcher and the defense started off hot allowing 0 runs in the first inning. They used this momentum to hit well. Amayah Doyle started it off with a leadoff homerun. This inning ended 2-0, Carterville’s lead.

In the second, Carr and the defense were able to allow no runs, and tack on four more of their own, advancing the lead to 6-0.

Carterville tacked on another run in the third, pulling away to 7-0.

Despite the Indian’s two runs they plated in the fifth, Carterville wasn’t phased as they answered with two more of their own in the 6th.

The brought on the final score of 9-2 and secured the win for the Lions.
