CARTERVILLE – The Lady Lions fell in a tough conference match up against the Nashville Hornettes on December 14. Both teams were going back and forth for the lead until the fourth quarter, where Nashville took it upon themselves and pulled away with a final score of 61-55.

The game started strong for the Lions with Amayah Doyle scoring the first 7 points, and Alecia Doyle adding a pair of threes herself. Despite the sisters’ effort, Carterville was still down 14-13 at the end of the first.

In the second quarter both teams started to play physically, and many fouls were called where some key players from both teams had to come out. The Lions took that to their advantage and, after scoring 17 points, took the lead going to halftime, 30-25.

The second half was suspenseful for Lion fans, after the girls only scored 4 points in the third quarter to make the score 43-34. The Lions had mount a comeback, but ended up falling short before the final buzzer.

The Lady Lions are back in action on December 16, when they’re set to host the Herrin Tigers. JV starts at 6:15 and Varsity starts at 7:15
