CARTERVILLE – Kicking off the second home match of the year, the Lions Wrestling team hosted the Murphysboro Red Devils and the West Frankfort Red Birds, where the hosts finished second of the three programs.

The triangular started off with a duel between Murphy and West Frankfort which resulted in a 70-12 win for the Red Devils.

The following duel was between Carterville and West Frankfort, which resulted in a 60-15 loss for the Lions. The boys had to face a very talented and tough West Frankfort team, and being mostly underclassman did not help in the loss.

The last duel of the night was between the Lions and the Red Devils. The match was a win for the Lions with a score of 48-29. With the Red Devils down to the JV squad due to COVID protocols, the win for the Lions came with ease.

The Wrestling team faces off next at the Benton Duels Tournament this Saturday at 8:30am.
