Set One

Set One started off rough for the Lions. Carterville stayed close behind Du Quoin but could not quite catch up until Stuck got a block to tie the game at 11-11. After this, the Lions kept their energy high and kept continued to rack up the points. The Lion’s momentum caused Du Quoin to call two timeouts when the score had reached 19-16 and 22-18. However, Carterville came out of each timeout ready to win and capped off the set with a loud Mavigliano kill.

Set Two

The second set started off with a kill by Senior Amanda Howerton. The Lions kept up their velocity which forced the Du Quoin Indians to call a timeout trailing 10-4. After the pause, Lange answered with a thunderous kill to keep the Lions rolling. Stuck ended this set with another kill, bringing the Lions to a 16-1 record so far for their season.

When Stuck was asked about her thoughts on the match, she explained that “[she] was really excited for this game, [and] had been in a rut for a while, but [she] showed up and played [her] heart out throughout this match.”
