CARTERVILLE – The Lion soccer team ended their latest home match in a 1-1 tie with Centralia.

The Lions started with the ball and quickly took advantage with a goal off of a free kick from junior Hatcher Bickett. The defense quickly got to work keeping Centralia out of the goal.

At the end of the half, Centralia managed to put one in off of a corner kick, tying the game up at 1-1. This would be the first and last goal for Centralia. The stellar defense was led by goalie Keegan Weber who had a number of saves and did not give up a goal in the second half.

“I do feel like we could have beat Centralia,” said Bickett after the game. However, Bickett and the team are still optimistic about the future of their season.

”It does feel really nice knowing we have some good things to look forward to,” said Bickett.

The tie brings the Lions to 6-4-2 on the season. They look to improve against Marion on October 10 in their next game.
