CARTERVILLE – The Lions volleyball team brought home another win against the Carbondale Terriers Thursday night, August 25. After a hard fought game, the Lions sent home Carbondale in 3 sets (25-27, 25-20, 25-16).

After a slow start to the first set, Senior Reese Brunken picked up the Lions lead to 5-4 with a 4-point serve run. Despite long rallies proving the Lions’ mental toughness, the Terriers fought back to win the first set with a score of 27-25.

The Lady Lions knew what they had to do in the second set. Senior Hannah Tran pulled out a 6-point serve run to get a Lion lead midway through the set.

“This was a big game for us,” said senior Maryn Vaughn. “It allowed us to see how we work as a team against a solid opponent.”

Carterville took the second set and swung the momentum in their favor for the remainder of the match, securing wins in the second and third set, 25-20 and 25-16.
