CARTERVILLE – Lady Lions softball defeated the DuQuoin Indians Thursday night in a regular-season conference game 13-2.

The Lions started the game out strong with back-to-back doubles by third and fourth hitters, Lacie Carr and Hunter Noto, scoring Amayah Doyle for the first run of the game. Then it was Maddie Rosenbery and Karson Caudill’s turn; they both end up with singles bringing both Carr and Noto in making the score 3-0.

In the following half inning, Madison Lee started it off for the Indians with getting hit by a pitch. Abbi Mocaby and Ellie Searby both ended up with singles, but that wasn’t enough for the Lions. They ended up getting Mocaby out at second and getting both Kenndy Morse and Makaily Hicks out to end the inning, 3-0.

The 2nd inning was all Lacie Carr. Carterville scored no runs, however Carr ended up striking out both Lauren Heape and Riley Atkins for the first two outs of the innings.

The next 2 innings weren’t very eventful for both teams with just DuQuoin bringing in two more runs. Carterville brought in two runs, making the score 11-3 by the end of the 5th.

The last inning was all Carterville Lions. Sadie Ziegler started it out for the Li0ns with a single. Next, was Doyle with a single of her own. The next three batters for the Lions, Katie Keirn, Kendall McCalla, and Allie Stewart all ended up with hits making the score 13-3. To end the game, first baseman, Emma Rogers made a double play herself by catching the line drive and also getting the runner out at first.
