CARTERVILLE-  The Carterville Lions Volleyball team beat the Woodlawn Cardinals in two sets on Monday night, October 11th. Both sets were completed with a score of 25-14 bringing the Lions record to 24-4.

Senior Bella Mavigliano had the leading number of seven kills throughout the night. Followed closely behind by Junior Ally Lange with five kills and seven blocks. Amanda Howerton (SR) had a total of four kills throughout the match and Sophomore Regan Eigenrauch had three. Libero, Reese Brunken (JR) had a total of 13 digs while setter Addie Wallace (JR) had 12 assists. 

Set One

Set one starting off on a five-point run for the Lions forcing Woodlawn to call a timeout early in the set at 5-1. Carterville continued to keep up their momentum throughout the entire game. After an ace by Lange and a kill by Howerton, the Cardinals were forced to call another timeout. However, after this timeout, the Lions stayed on top by Mavigliano getting a kill followed by Maryn Vaughn (JR) getting a kill and a block. This set was capped off by a Woodlawn player getting called in the net to end the set at 25-14.

Set Two

Set two started off close until Sydney Stuck (SR) got a kill to put the Lions in the lead at 9-8. After this, the Lions continued to be aggressive, keep their momentum, and rack up points. After a kill and block by Lange, the Cardinals were forced to call their first timeout of this set. Once this timeout was over Carterville kept up their velocity until the score was 23-12 which caused Woodlawn to call another timeout. This set also ended with a Woodlawn player being called in the net to make the score 25-14.
