Spotlight Artist: Thomas Wood

Madelyn Houston, Staff Writer

Thomas Wood is undoubtedly one of the most accomplished CHS students when it comes to musical arts. As a senior, he has portrayed his talent and dedication throughout all four years of high school. He has participated in marching band, jazz band, and concert band since his freshman year as a trombonist. He has been section leader of the trombones since his sophomore year. In addition to trombone, Thomas also plays the violin. In fact, every one of his four siblings plays at least one instrument. Thomas has even represented Carterville by participating in several regional honor bands. This past year, he was seated as First Chair Orchestra for trombone in the Illinois Music Education Association (ILMEA) ensemble band, which is a very impressive feat. He also performs in the annual Madrigal performance, and participates in the school musicals by playing in the pit. In his spare time, Thomas enjoys reading books, selling shoes at Shoe Carnival, and watching the HBO phenomenon Game Of Thrones.
